An Outdoor Pursuit Trip to Kenmare has been organised for Transition Year Students on Thursday the 12th of September. For the trip students will get a bus to Kenmare and then hike from there to Killarney. This 16km/10mile walk will take you through the uplands of the Killarney National Part and will take approax 4 and a half hours to complete. The walk will test students' determination while taking in some of the most beautiful views this country has to offer. They will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water for this activity. This activity will require students to bring comfortable clothes, a rain jacket and suitable footwear for hiking. Students should also bring a separate bag with a change of clothes, a towel and a plastic bag for dirty or wet clothes that will be left on the bus and can be changed into after the hike if required. The bus will pick students up at Torc Waterfall in Killarney before returning to Skibbereen.
The Bus will leave Skibbereen Community School at 8:00 sharp and return to the school at 5:00 PM.
Since these are School trips, the students will be required to follow the teachers’ instructions and Event organisers at all times and abide by the School’s Code of Behaviour.
You will be requested to inform us of any medical conditions in the online permission form below. If this is the case, please ensure that they have their necessary medication with them for the trip.
Please Note: No Students will be allowed to depart the bus on the return Journey at any time, other than Skibbereen, unless the student is being collected by a parent/guardian by prior arrangement.
Cost of Trip: Included in TY year fee. You will be required to complete the permission form before you can compete the registration. Please complete the form and register via the below options by Sept 5th 2023.
