Congratulations to Katie Kingston who represented Ireland in the AAA Championships in Birmingham.
Katie was selected on the Irish team for this competition having achieved the qualifying standard at the national juvenile championships in July. Katie won gold in the U17 girls’ javelin (41.80M) & that booked her place to represent Ireland.
Katie won five All-Ireland medals in 2023:
Silver in the U18 All-Ireland Spring Throws
Silver in the All-Ireland Juniors
Silver in the Senior All-Ireland League
Silver in the All-Ireland Schools
Gold at the National Juvenile Championships.

He spoke about going out of your comfort zone & learning to love yourself. He told students to see knock backs and rejection as experiences to grow and develop and to stop wasting precious time on mobile phones & social media and live in the now interacting with people.
Caoimhe Flannery became the first SCS student to win an International Schools Athletics medal ,following her 3rd place finish at the Schools' International Athletics Board (SIAB) in Grangemouth, Scotland in July.
Caoimhe was selected following her win at the Tailteann Games u17 Interprovincial Schools event, in June. This followed on from her clean sweep of South Munster,Munster and All Ireland Schools' titles in the u17 1500m Steeplechase this season.
Competing against the top 2 athletes from England ,Scotland and Wales, Caoimhe ran a Personal Best of 5;10 to finish in 3rd place .This was the first Steeplechase medal won by an Irish athlete since 2018 and the first ever by a Munster girl.
Congratulations & well done to Caoimhe on a superb achievement.

€20,200 was raised during the year in the hugely successful tractor run. It was Ricky’s wish to have it bigger and better than the previous year.
The school community were delighted to support the tractor run in aid of Ricky’s chosen charities.
‘Skibbereen taking on Food Waste’ was a key project for Skibbereen Tidy Towns in 2022/23.
Funded by the Clean Technology Centre at Munster Technological University, SCS students had the opportunity to partake in a number of food waste awareness events.
The CTC kindly sponsored two €100 gift cards as prizes in a draw for students who successfully completed the online food waste course. The lucky winners were Niamh and Oleg. Many congratulations.
Congratulations to Leah and Heidi who received a West Cork Garda Youth award on Friday night in the West Cork Hotel in Skibbereen. Ricky Barrett RIP also received a posthumous award.
The six SCS athletes competing at the Munster Schools Track and Field Championships at An Ríocht AC, Castleisland on Saturday ,all performed brilliantly.
SCS have three Munster Schools Champions and incredibly all six athletes have qualified for the All Ireland Schools in Tullamore on June 2nd/3rd.
Adam O’Donovan won the Intermediate Shot Put with a huge throw of 12.28 metres.
Katie Kingston retained the Intermediate Javelin title with a massive 42.47m throw (PB) and Caoimhe Flannery retained the Intermediate 1500m Steeplechase title, with a record breaking run,(5:14) her second record in a week, having broken the South Munster record the previous Saturday!
Adam also threw brilliantly in the Intermediate Javelin finishing 2nd.
Elaine O’Sullivan was also at her best with a throw of 32.06m (PB) in the Junior Javelin to finish 2nd, while Lorraine Coakley threw a huge PB of 31.75 to finish 3rd in the same competition.
Diana Coakley was 3rd in the Intermediate hammer with an impressive throw of over 30 metres.
Diana was also 4th in the Intermediate discus and Katie was 5th.
