SCS are delighted to say 2023 started off with a bang with Cara House.
When our students went in, they were introduced to Áine Minihane who was very helpful and welcoming to them as always.
They went around serving teas, coffees, and scones to the different tables and chatted with the elderly people as well. Next, they were sent off to collect messages for them, which they really enjoyed as they felt they were helping to give back to the community in a small way, but it means a lot to all the elderly people.
At 1 o'clock they served everyone their soup and dinner, followed by cake to celebrate one member of Cara House Luncheon Club's 80th Birthday. They lit candles on the cake and sang a big happy birthday!
Even though they were only there for two and a half hours, they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, everybody was so lovely.
They would all like to volunteer like this on a regular basis as they feel small things like these can make a huge difference to the members of Cara House Luncheon Club. They felt that they learned loads from this experience.
